Follow Up to The Sociable Lawyer Meetup at House of Shields

EMAILPRINT

There is no question that social media provides incredible opportunities for tech-savvy attorneys who want to expand their reputation and professional network. Using Twitter and Facebook you can meet, interact, and communicate with colleagues and potential clients across the globe from your home or office. And although we believe strongly in the value of those connections, we still believe that nothing is more valuable than an opportunity to meet your colleagues face to face. In that spirit we were excited to host an impromptu cocktail hour earlier this week for some of San Francisco’s sharpest and most entrepreneurial attorneys at The House of Shields in the Financial District.

Speaking for myself, I made a number of valuable connections including attorneys who practice in adjacent fields from my own, as well as many fellow solo and small firm attorneys who were excited to share their insights and stories. And, hey, the drinks were free. If you want to stay in the know for future networking events, follow us on Twitter and Facebook, and join our Meetup Group.

Don’t forget to check out our tips for making the most of networking events and our post about Card Reader Apps.  For my part, I immediately scanned each of the business cards I received using CardMunch when I got home and connected with my new connections on LinkedIn.

About Matthew Hickey

Matthew is an entertainment attorney, blogger and music enthusiast. Having previously worked as an attorney in law firms both large and small, and now as a practicing solo attorney, Matthew believes that there has never been a better time to start a solo practice or small firm. By utilizing social media and new technology, small firms and solo attorneys can surpass their large firm counterparts in terms of marketing and providing clients with efficient, reliable legal services at affordable rates. When he isn’t wearing his “lawyer hat” he is humble-bragging about his extensive vinyl collection over at the food and music website Turntable Kitchen.
