Why You Should Update Your LinkedIn Company Page

In the past I’ve discussed the value of creating a LinkedIn Company Page for your small firm on LinkedIn. After all, it’s a great way to highlight and advertise the specialties and areas of expertise for your practice. If you have relatively tech-savvy staff members, then they are probably already on LinkedIn. With a LinkedIn Company Page you can cross-promote your firm and the individual members of your firm at the same time.

The only complaint I would have leveled against LinkedIn’s Company Pages in the past is that they weren’t particularly attractive. Especially when compared to the recent facelifts we’ve seen on sights like Twitter and Facebook. Thankfully, LinkedIn decided it was time to give Company Pages a much needed update too.

Add a Cover Photo

Much like Facebook’s new “cover” photo, you can now able to apply an attractive image to your Company Page. A thoughtful image can make your Company’s Page more attractive and engaging for users. Be creative and use an image that says something about your firm.

Better Showcase Your Firm’s Services

LinkedIn has redesigned the Company Page to better spotlight your firm’s services and any relevant career opportunities you may have available. Basically the new design does a better job of showcasing this information on your Company’s Overview page.

A Greater Focus on Updates

Your firm’s status updates now more prominently displayed as a highlight of your Company’s Page. In many regards this makes your Company Page more like a Facebook feed for your business. As a result it’s easy for visitors to your page to read, comment and share. Again, like on your Facebook timeline, you can feature a post to pin it to the top of your page.

Company Pages Have Gone Mobile

Finally, LinkedIn has made Company Pages more prominent and accessible through mobile devices. As a result, it’s easier to read and navigate your Company page from a smart phone or tablet.

They just announced the new changes, and I haven’t had a chance to update my firm’s page yet. Nonetheless, the wheels are already turning. Do you have any tips for making a great Company Page?
